Scott - good catch! As often the case, I am wrong again - there are 2 Saturday hamfests in MD - not that it impacts our best interest.
We can understand BARC's reasoning - I suspect the majority of their cash flow is on Saturday, and 2 days of volunteer staffing is a drain.
Times are also changing.
Nice to see you yesterday! Best wishes on fixing wheels and mobile antenna.

The BARC Hamfest and computer show will be ONE day in 2012.
Saturday, March 31st. No freefest anymore, either...

Pat
thanks for echoing my own earlier remarks, I sense we have made our point on this.
the Hagerstown hamfest did move to Saturday, and I understand they claimed higher attendance when they did it. I can't forecast what it would do for us. they might be the only Saturday hamfest in Maryland - although Saturday events may be more common in rural areas and further south.
I know there is also the matter of vendors needing to travel, or be away from their business on Saturday (when they may be closed on Sunday).
I cannot myself support both Tailgate and hamfest with my other Sunday commitments, so i try to arrange some time at hamfest each year. sometimes I must leave by 10-something, but this year I arranged to get our of my commitments (because children were providing music yesterday).
If manpower were an issue for Tailgate fest - that might be the better one to consider on a Saturday.

Hey, all,
Had a good time at the hamfest yesterday. I got
a lot of compliments about the good turn out, and
of course, the great weather. A lot of those
attending had a very good time; many were quite
vocal about it!
Good working with you fellas.
Just for the record, I too would be able to put
in more hours of support if the hamfest were on
a Saturday morning instead of a Sunday.
BTW, if you didn't hear me raving about it, the
KB3VTP-11 high-altitude balloon experiment two
days ago was with lots of technical drama but
ended up as an outstanding success. Had superb
extemporaneous local support from the hams in the
Harrisburg, PA area (from their 6.97 repeater).
The balloon landed in the woods immediately north
of Ski Roundtop!
Cheers,
Pat
