Subject: [QRP-L] Pikes Peak SOTA now on the Air, 22 Oct. 2100, 1750z,

KD9KC (Mike) and WT5RZ (Ron)  came up from El Paso, Texas. WG0AT (Steve) is with then now (R&P could not come).
They are now on top of Pikes Peak, Colorado,  22 Oct. 2011 at 1750 UTC.
WT5RZ is on SSB at  21270 kHz.
Mike KD9KC is on 10 SSB at  28357.0 kHz, he is running 5W with a 3 foot loop.
They may QSY with out notice, the bands are really busy...
They can be seen in the new HD Pikes Peak panoramic camera at
http://www.springsgov.com/units/pikespeak/index.asp
They are in the blue tent and a turquoise tent in the lower left corner of cam4.
You can even see the Buddiepole...
If the camera doesn't sequence properly, refresh your browser.
The Summit House is on cam1 and cam7 and you can see all the visitors and the COG Train. This is where you get the donuts and coffee.
This camera switches around every 30 seconds. There is not too much snow there, it all blew off.
The Texan's call these things 'rocks' that you see up here on top of Pikes Peak but we just call them sand.
The weather station can be seen at http://cograilway.com/Summit/WeatheratSummitB.htm
Last i checked the temperature was 20F and wind speed 30 MPH, That's a wind chill of  ZERO F.
Pikes Peak is SOTA  W0/FR-004 and is 14115 feet high.
Give these guys a break, they are dizzy, freezing, operating with gloves on and over the hill.
