nice posting - seeing that George has some interesting projects while doing his
SDR-cube venture is something - he must not sleep much !
yes that njqrp gang is a 'specialty club' -- and I would describe them as being
'hands-on' and 'technical' - not merely low power addicts.
these informal, technical gatherings are the energy for those kind of clubs.
sometimes they come up with 'group projects' that they kit, for themselves or
even for the masses.
amongst the bigger QRP community - we have some well-known, interesting folk in
MD
- WA8MCQ - a pillar of ARCI, used to work at Maryland Radio Center
- John King, I need to learn his new call - he writes in QRP quarterly, also
knows vintage radio
- K3PEG - expert on elegant manhattan
I caught George's 6m moxon - something I 'need' now that I have a rig that does
6m. As I am 'mechanical hardware challenged' I will visit his link for sure!
I am currently building a W7ZOI hybrid cascode AGC amplifier to go into a
homebrew receiver.
Certainly we can think of a format for technical interchange at our meetings -
it could be as simple as showing up a half hour early with projects. Or a
quarterly gathering ...
