Curt-

It is interesting that they used an audio power-output tube, the 6V6, as the 
single stage transmitter.  Reminds me of the 6L6 audio power-output tube 
being used as a final in transmitters by hams in the past..  Had trouble 
with flash-over of the plate pin on the octal base, so the tube 
manufacturers put a cap on top of the 6L6 for the plate connection and 
called it an 807.

Two 6SK7 tubes for the receiver.  Couldn't be more simpler.

Not sure I'd call Paraset a handheld.

These early 'handhelds' used the ionosphere instead of a repeater, existed
before transistors, and helped the survival of our western civilization as 
we
know it. Very interesting to look at ! OK they are kinda heavy to hold while
