Jim-

I just checked 160 using my 40 meter dipole. I hear the noise. It is
running about S5 to S6 across the band in AM mode, but only slightly above
background noise. It would be stronger, I'm sure, with a resonate 160 meter
antenna.

I also took a portable radio outside and tuned to the lower and upper ends
of the AM band. I didn't hear the noise.

We have experience in the past similar noise at various spots on the AM
band, one of which was on top of WTTR (1470) that upset my wife. We never
determined the source of the noise but it was definite power line related.
We haven't noticed it recently.
