Hi Folks-

A couple days ago I sent a brief reminder about the
2011 Maryland DC QSO Party
coming up this weekend and may have mentioned
that according to the rules if you make 10 qsos and submit a log and
summary sheet to this year's sponsor that they promise to award you
at least a participation certificate.

Two things have come to my attention yesterday that may interest you
about this activity.

1. At least one local ham last year got on and made I think he said 154 qso
points but
inadvertainly mailed his log to ARA. ARA is not the sponsor anymore. The
Anne Arundel Radio Club in
Davidsonville MD has that honor these day. See www.mdcqsoparty.w3vpr.org for
correct address and to
download the official summary sheet.

2. And this is a plus for hams on 2 meters locally, some of the Cheese
Hollow Members plan to be on 146.55
Simplex around 2 PM Saturday to work each other for qso party contacts here
in Washington County and
thereabouts. Those stations will be open for contacts with others too
sooooooooo informally there could be a
spurt of 2 meter activity on 146.55 and 146.58 around 2 PM local Saturday
and possibly that time Sunday as
well. I hope to have a few quiet moments at work so that I can be there a
short while at least one of the days.

John Smith W3SPY said last night he can contact folks using W3HAM too for
those wishing a 10 Point QSO.
I don't think there have been any announced plans to bring W3CWC on for the
test but maybe W3PDW
could find time or arrange for someone to borrow the club and provide some
other 10 point contacts locally.
Bob Long who operated KD3JK in last year's event hasn't said if W3HAG will
make an appearance and give
out 10 point qsos as the ACES Club Chapter of ARA.

Back when ARA sponsored this event (and ARA was the sponsor of the modern
MDC QSO Party for its first 20 years) there was more VHF/UHF activity
locally than in any other part of the state. Perhaps with the announced
2 PM target time for 2 meters Saturday and Sunday locally that will once
again be the case.

Remember its inportant if you make 10 qsos to download the summary sheet and
submit it with your log if you want
a certificate from the current event sponsor.
