If someone has the same radio you can try a control head swap just to 
convince yourself that it is the control head. Once you confirm that 
barring things like cracked circuit board or physically obvious damage 
re-flowing the board might be worth a try in case a connection broke 
that just can't be seen with the naked eye. Getting the board out from 
the plastic and display parts that won't like a heat gun are going to be 
the hardest part of that experiment.
