Curt,
The W3AO group has been running CT for logging run in DOS for many years now. N1MM run in Windows will work just fine and I am very satisfied with my digital setup running MixW with my RigExpert interface to my IC-956ProII. I agree that all of the stations need to be networked together thru WIFI or Ethernet cable. ( I have some high power access points and high gain WIFI Yagis so distance should not be a problem. I do like the W3AO approach to putting most of thier stations in one structure (building or tent) and running the coax out to the antennas (that may be several hundred feet in some cases to an antenna). With some exceptions such as the VHF/UHF, SAT stations and maybe the GOTA station. I don't know how they managed it but they got Fireman's Group to pay for the gasoline that was used in the generators. Last year, at least one of thier generators was a low speed (1800 RPM) unit that runs a little quieter and easier on the engine over the long run than a 3600 RPM unit. I still like propane for a fuel and plan on bringing my 5-6KW generator this year. (It is a 3600 RPM unit but I can not change that.)
It looked like they had a rather nice food service system to keep everyone fed, but then we seem to eat pretty good too.
And they do have more people to staff the stations and help with the setup and teardown (we need to work on this ). I wander if we could borrow a 20 kw, single phase, 120 VAC trailer mounted generator, maybe diesel or propane powered? Would there be one somewhere in the county government say if we paid for the fuel over Field Day weekend?
Hopefully, we will hear something soon from Gamber VFD about the use of the facility this year.
Just some thoughts,
John, K3KWO
