I see this much hyped rig is now at HRO.  

Its much hyped mainly since its been a while since Kenwood has had a rather high 
end HF rig.  Its priced above a FT-950 and below any of Icom's current 'higher 
end' rigs.  A few folk were dreaming it is K3-like, which I doubt!  


My first modern rig was a Kenwood, but since then I went to the K2, and now to 
the FT-950.  It will be interested to read about what this rig really does - but 
I doubt that its 'worth the hype' except another rig type is on the market.  


Someone could do a psychological study on why each of likes certain rigs - but 
the controls are a factor (in addition to, and sometimes more, than what is 
inside in terms of performance).  I think I see a one color display, a few 
knobs, I don't know how many roofing filters ... 


Meanwhile - most important - enjoy the rig you have!
