Last year we used WriteLog for our logging. It is currently installed on
all the club station computers (6). I have the installation files also
and the install is pretty quick and painless. I think we are at 10.71
(whatever was current just before field day 09).
While I like WriteLog since I'm familiar with it I'm willing to use
something else as long as I have a little time to get to know it. I'm
taking a few days off so I'll play with n1mm over the weekend.
I have 1 probably 2 laptops here that will handle it no problem and the
club stations PC's are also an option. If we use desktops for logging we
need to be a little mindful of power hits and making sure we get the log
saved and PC shutdown before turning off the generator.
As far as the networking goes I have a couple of wireless USB network
cards so that will let us handle a few stations wireless, most laptops
should already have wireless, and I have a 200' cat-5 cable and a 100'
one as well.
Using the same s/w especially if we get it networked so we have 1
complete log makes the submission easier. Also we get the benefits of
having the exchange and section recorded already if any station in the
operation has worked them before. Plus its fun to watch the running
contact and score total roll by.

I really don't have any preference for the logging software, except that having the computers networked together does seem to help with dupes as we tend to switch bands.
