Subject: [K3PZN-List] Major snowstorm expected this weekend

Hi Folks;

There's a good chance we're going to have a major winter snowstorm
this weekend. Current predictions are 12 to 20 inches, with the storm
starting around midday on Friday. The Carroll County Office of
Emergency Management is planning its response in case the storm causes
problems. Because of our history of reliable support, Chrissy Calp has
asked that we prepare as well. She wants us to be ready to provide
support for: EOC, Carroll Hospital Center, Shelters, and Fire
Departments.

Chrissy has asked that we give her an idea how many people could be
available. If you're available and able to perform any of the
following missions anytime this weekend Friday thru Sunday, please let
me know by noon on Thursday 04-Feb:

1) You can SAFELY travel a distance of 10 miles in 12 inches of snow.

2) You have portable radio equipment that can be set up to operate
from a sheltered location where power is provided. You would have to
bring an antenna and coax.

3) You can be available to perform net control or net liaison duties
from your home.

Also, please review your pre-activation checklists so that you and
your family will be safe. Be sure to monitor the 145.410 repeater
whenever possible this weekend for any instructions, and to support
any motorists who are out traveling.

73; Steve, N3SB
