[K3PZN-List] Enjoy Some QSO's

Yes it seems like a strange occupation for Germany.

Yeah it is a bit cold for antenna work - we did some outdoor decorating today.

Pete -- I have my little beam rather low (i need to acquire a sturdier mask - I
literally see them abandoned attached to some of the houses in the neighborhood
that are more rigid than this one). After re-building my elevated deck I want
to get it up to 30 feet, but for now it works fine - particularly as my ground
slopes down toward Europe and Africa. I suggest installing it without the
17/12m elements to reduce its weight. I was skeptical when I was given the
little beam, but indeed it has gain over a vertical - sometimes 2-3 s-units.

15m contest has many in the US chasing a few DX to the south -- not too much
happening overall. I did work an EA8 earlier. Now the station in Brazil is 579
so maybe SSB is possible.

I am making a few contacts to Europe on 160m (Russia, Netherlands, Isle of Man
etc.) so now I have 60 DXCC with a 36 foot tall vertical and 100w.

Interesting fellow. I wonder how he ventured into Earthquake Seismology and
Physical Volcanology.

I heard a Cape Town, South Africa SSB station on 20 booming in over S9
yesterday. He was using a 5-element monobander.

Tuesday, I "watched" a RTTY pile up on 20. Guys trying to work ZD9T, a
dx-pedition on Tristan da Cunha.

Yep. The sun is waking up.

Just acquired a Comet GP-15 for 6-2-440. I waited all week for the wind to
stop blowing and then it snowed yesterday. Today should be in the 40s, so
as soon as the snow melts on the ladder rungs, I'm going to try and erect
the GP-15, and maybe the mini-beam I got from k3yjp. We'll see.
