Hi Folks;

The Carroll Hospital Center EMCOMM station is now operational!

Chuck N3TOT, Tony KF3AK and I visited the new station this morning to
connect all the equipment and give it a test. It's working fine!

We have a dedicated room on the fifth floor of the CHC, with power
feeds from both the main grid and the hospital's emergency generator.
Two dual-band antennas are installed on the roof, and the feedlines
are brought into our room at a connection panel. We have two dual-band
Yaesu radios, two power supplies, two PowerPole distribution panels,
and two PowerGate modules to permit instantaneous switchover to backup
batteries. We also have two chargers for the batteries. We have two
laptop computers that still need to be integrated into the setup.

The Carroll Hospital Center procured all this equipment, built this
radio room, and installed the antennas because they recognize the
value of having Amateur Radio (that's all of YOU, by the way) as part
of their emergency communications plans. We'll start testing this
equipment during our monthly RACES drills which resume in September,
and during our other exercises. The Simulated Emergency Test is coming
up in October, and we'll definitely have the station on the air.

Thanks to Chuck N3TOT for working with the hospital during the entire
process to specify the equipment, provide technical support during
installation, and maintaining liaison with CHC's emergency planner Tom
Jeffers.

73; Steve, N3SB
