The Backyard Genius article in September's issue of Popular Mechanics racked
up two amateur radio projects -- not bad, out of the 10 projects in the article.
The first is a balloon launch -- just a bit bigger than the ones Pat does.
An Alberta group sent a HD video camera and an APRS tracker up over 100,000
feet last August. Information on the flight and a portion of the video is at

The second is a group of students from Humber College in Toronto who built a
transciever and antenna system to NASA spec and used it for an ARISS contact
in February.
