I had a little time today and did some prep for field day at the club
station.
The IC-756 has headsets and foot switch hooked up. I'm proposing we use
that rig for the SSB station since I've got that part done. As a side
note I worked Scotland on 20M PSK31 while I was checking all the audio
levels and connections (so in 8 years when we get the QSL card....).
The vhf/uhf ICOM twins are now connected to PC6. I used multi-psk to
connect to the BBS so I'm pretty confident that if I got packet to work
the other digital modes will work. I hooked the diplexer into the
antenna and found the mystery vertical on the tower loads about 1.2:1 on
445.875, up to about 1.8:1 by 446.000, so its at least usable on UHF. A
copy of the rig manual is on the desktop of PC6. To set CTSS (PL) tone
on these rigs, press and hold the "Sel" button (next to "Tone") and
rotate the tuning dial to select the tone. A chart is on the wall that
maps the tone number to frequency. Let go of Sel when you've got the
desired tone set, then press the Tone button an the amber tone light on
the display will come on.
TS-850 now has a rig control cable connected, this provides only limited
control - band and mode only but that's enough to drive the logging
software so that the software always matches the rig.
TS-870 - replaced the dead batteries in the desk mic. Otherwise nothing
changed here.
I'll send another email to start a Field Day planning thread....
Andy
