[K3PZN-List] Regen First Signals Received - More Work to Do

After finding a missing wire, adjusting a bias resistor value, changing how the RF stage gets its bias -- and fiddling with its many controls -- intelligent signals were finally heard thru the headphones -- 31m broadcasts -- several I managed to tune in.

I definitely learned the output of a regen receiver is 'nothing' when the regen control is not sufficiently engaged -- and it's too much of everything when there is too much regeneration.

The fairly large box is mostly empty of electronics, but the front panel full of controls, and a near mess of wires connecting them and the coil windings (3 pair ...) to the circuit board.

I want to modify it further to get down to 80 meters ...

I am not ready to give up on superhets (i have a homebuilt one on a breadboard ready for more mods and someday packaging).

More details available ... i haven't taken its picture yet (its not much to look at but interesting to experience something similar to a 1927 receiver, except with transistors).

Maybe someone else on this list is doing something new, or different, or re-engaging in something old ? I am still making a few trans-atlantic QSO's on 1.8 MHz. Do share what you are up to with radio.
