Hi Eric,

Long time, no hear -- or see!

Thank you for your post.

I am using the PICAXE 28X1 in the PICetSat II
module, using all four A/D converter inputs,
sensing two temperatures (IAT and OAT) at
altitude, the battery voltage, and the altitude
(or pressure) sensor. The telemetry also
includes a sequential frame number (poor man's
MET or TOD clock), a sensor calibration check,
a simple checksum, either a message/greeting
to all or name of sponsor or flight group/
school ID, and of course callsign in 10 WPM CW.

To the point, it works well. But the next
series of design developments on the module
will include a telemetry output in PSK31, RTTY,
Packet AX.25 or ??? I don't know YET if the
PICAXE 28X1 (generic PIC16F886) or 28X2 or other
PICAXEs can output those required tones on their
own, like I think I heard certain Arduino micro-
controller can.

My microcontroller selection for the PICetSat
upgrade is a task for this summer and I can
really use your input and the input from others
for help as well. Thoughts?

What are YOU trying to do with a microcontroller?
Please share with the CCARC list group.

Thanks,

Pat

I have a couple of Arduino board kits if you'd like to play with one. N3SB
and N3III had a Saturday morning get together last year at the FTC where a
number of club members built the kits and learned how to generate and upload
simple programs. I used the Arduino to control the Si570 programmable
crystal oscillator and an Analog Devices AD9851 DDS. I think N3SB was
playing with building a packet TNC with the Arduino or possibly an advanced
version of the Arduino.
