[K3PZN-List] Really Neat QSO

Over the weekend I was tuning around and heard W8IO.  No not just another callsign - as W8IO was the trustee of the high school radio club I was part of, and did my Novice exam.  I had heard him on the air 'a long time ago' but failed in contacting him (I was using my HW-8 and it took to long to hook the antenna to my 100w rig).  Bob is retired and age 83 (32 years ago he was Mr. Allen social studies teacher and he seemed 'old').  Anyway he was sending to me with a bug at around 30 wpm so I had to beg QRS !  Very neat to have my first QSO with my original mentor, albeit a bunch of years later.  He is active but doesn't do contests and I tend to tune by those sending at 30 wpm!
