The ARRL website has an excellent article posted on
some PSK31 nuances. Although I already enjoy this
mode, I learned some interesting tips.
The TX5C website mentions why they were scarce at
times yesterday -- 3 thunderstorms, some wind damage,
and loss of 2 of their CW keyers. I did manage to
work them on 40m CW yesterday morning, and I am
looking for them on 80m (i previously worked
Clipperton on 30-10m from the last operation).
I thought I had them on 80m last nite -- found a
station on 3506 only signing 'up' with a lively
pile-up. I figured out his pattern, and consistently
put my transmit frequency about 500 Hz above or below
the last person. Most every time I was on the same
freq as the station 'who won' - once it was K1ZZ ! On
maybe the tenth try I worked him - and later he
identified as V26WY - not who I thought it was. I got
some good practice at working split, and V2 is a new
country for me on 80m - i have worked more than 80
countries (all at 100w or less) since erecting my
vertical this past fall. My goal was to merely enjoy
80m propagation now when it is at its peak due to low
sunspots.
