[K3PZN-List] 6 Transmitters (either 6 or 3 + 3?)

Here is my thinking: i don't expect more than 3 HF
bands to be effective at the same time.
Putting up 6 good antennas sounds challenging enough
if indeed we operate from the field. (and to operate
6 xmtrs it might take a few more antennas to account
for day and nite)
How much prime power we supply may be our practical
bounds - whether all 6 go at 100w (50w for 100% duty
cycle digital modes), or whether we place 3 of those
at QRP.
With a little planning, we can deploy our 6
transmitters in various ways to provide operating
windows for CW, SSB and digital modes (and maybe we
should to some RTTY as well as PSK?).
CW ops are generally content at 5w, so W3JJH's
proposal to consider a split into two operations (3A
and 3A-battery) is worth considering.
The real questions are"
- how will we power these transmitters
- our projected roster of operators
- our antenna arrangement
- our logging infrastructure & relationship to the rig
operating positions ... with planning we can work
this!
Count me in as wanting to do some CW, RTTY, SSB,
mentor some new ops in any mode, and maybe some
VHF/UHF. I would like to participate in erecting and
tearing down one antenna ... but NOT six!
I do hope we can reduce the max number of hours any
operator will be at work from last year, yet get more
total operating hours!
