Subject: [K3PZN-List] COMPLETE HEATHKIT SB-104A STATION UP FOR SALE

Dear CCARC Members,

I've just took possession of a Heathkit SB-104A Transceiver with accessories and all construction and operating manuals. Knowing that there are CCARC members who are into older radio equipment, I thought that I would give you guys first shot at it prior to it going on eBay. Two of the manuals are printed "1978" so I guess that if it doesn't qualify as antique, it certainly is "classic" gear. If you like to tinker, here's your chance.

TRANSCEIVER SB-104A Needs work
EXTERNAL SPEAKER & AC PS (HP1144A built into cabinet) SB-604 Powers up
REMOTE VFO SB-644A Working condition unknown
STATION WAVEFORM MONITOR SB-614A Powers up, shows horizontal line trace on scope.
STATION CONSOLE SB-634 Clock, ID timer, VSWR/PWR meter, phone patch. Working to a degree.
HEATHKIT DESK MICROPHONE

ALL ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION & OPERATING MANUALS, BUT NO ORIGINAL BOXES.

Physically, the equipment is in very good condition. Very few paint chips and no scratches that I've seen thus far. It has spent the last five years in storage. Many of the switches are a bit stiff and undoubtedly need to be cleaned. Due to the length of storage, I suspect that some of the electrolytic caps need replacement.

Before anything else, I plan to at least clean the cabinetry, blow out the internal dust with canned air and clean the mechanical switches. However, I really don't have the time or the inclination to get it all up to speed.

The equipment was assembled by Bell Atlantic Radio Technician Jim Faust (CPET) KA3ONL (SK). Jimmy and I worked together and I later became his supervisor, so I know the quality of his work to be top notch. Jimmy was a real "old school radio man" and on e of my closest friends, despite the fact that he tried to electrocute me several times with those big old Motorola base station radio power supplies.

Please e-mail or call me if you have questions. You're welcome to come over and take a gander at the stuff as well.

Hope this finds the members well and getting ready for the bands to open and the summer antenna work that always needs doing.
