[K3PZN-List] 16 Days Until Field Day

Has the antennas been fixed at the old EOC? I have to work the weekend of field day but I have some time between now and field day to work on the antennas and I have my own climbing gear.

Is anyone planning to set up a demo station for the county offical folks
(and invite them for a demo)? I don't see it on the list below. Someone
needs to take the lead (set up, invite the dignitaries, do show-and-tell).

Sorry, but I cannot get involved...I have a family event that weekend that
will preclude my participation in FD (with the possible exception of Friday
set-up).

If the county officials (and the equipment that we requested and they
purchased) are not important, then forget it. It was just a suggestion.

All:

Thank you to all who are helping prepare for Field Day.

We need someone to check out the Windom that WX3B says he smoked last
autumn.

We need someone to be the GOTA Coach. If we have a GOTA Coach (or Coaches)
who
actually works with the newbies and guests, but does not work the radios or
log
for them, the GOTA bonus points double. Volunteer(s)?

Logging. Hmmm ... all I have to turn in with the report to the ARRL are the
dupe sheets, so all I need from each station is an electronic file that is a
list of call signs with some sort of delimiters that Excel can parse. I
plan to
use CT on the HF Phone station. The digital guys may have logging imbedded
in
their software and will want to use that. I suppose you could keep a paper
log
and type up a dupe sheet with Word Pad. Use what you like.

And, no, we're not going to try to network the logging computers. We'll
have a
mix of Windows and Mac OS machines. We might even have an MS-DOS or Linux
box,
and we don't know that every computer will support TCP/IP over Ethernet. Of
course, if someone can set up an 802.11b link on 2.4 GHz as a mode
demonstration, we could link some of the computers, but, otherwise, let's
forget
about networking.

We still need a Food Captain.

Here's the current list of Station, Station Captains, etc."

Non-Traditional Mode Stations:

APRS/N8PK

Once again, please sign up to "captain" one of the VHF/UHF bonus phone
stations
or a Non-traditonal Mode station, if you can.

Let me know what GIOTA rigs you might be bringing. Remember, canoe anchor
rigs
like Benton Harbor Lunch Boxes are QRP. I'll bring an inverter to provide
120 V
ac from battery if we need it.

Anyone want to bring a homebrew rig?

Did I mention that we need a Food Captain?
