Hurricane Zephyr has hit Carroll County, causing widespread wind and water
damage. One shelter has already been activated. The Carroll County Office of
Emergency Management will be activating Carroll County RACES on Thursday, 26
April from 9:00 AM thru 3:00 PM to take part in this Maryland Emergency
Management Agency (MEMA) sponsored state-wide event. Hams are needed to staff
the EOC, the Fire Training Center, Springfield Hospital Center, and the
exercise shelter at the Armory in Westminster. We are currently VERY
understaffed.

This exercise will evaluate the response and recovery functions of Emergency
Operation Centers (EOCs) in the state and local jurisdictions following a
hurricane impacting the region. The actual exercise starts at T + 48 hours into
the event, with the assumption that we are already set-up and performing our
RACES duties. We will deploy to pre-assigned locations Thursday morning, and be
on the air around 8:30 so that we'll be ready to pick up with the exercise
timeline at 9:00 AM.

If you are able to participate, and have not already done so, please contact
Keith W3MDC or myself, so that we can coordinate your assignment.
