CCARC Members,
I have a Yaesu FT-2200 2-meter FM mobile radio that has had little
use since new but is in need of repair. Is this model generally
worth any sort of repair investment? Can anyone make any
recommendations as to a reliable repair shop?
The radio experienced a surge or short in my son's truck (I don't
know exactly what he did) which blew out the radio line fuse at the
truck battery (the factory in-line fuse in the positive side of the
radio power cord at the radio was not blown). After replacing the
fuse at the truck battery the radio would still not operate. After
removing the radio from the vehicle, I set it up on a bench and
hooked up the antenna and the power leads to a Astron RS-20M power
supply. After turning on the power supply its meters indicated just
a couple of amps and a few volts (with the radio both on or off), and
the radio would not "light up."
Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks.
