Greetings Friends;
The BARC hamfest is this coming weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, at the
Timonium Fairgrounds. This event kicks off the hamfest season, and I've been
looking forward to it all winter!
Flyeres for the CCARC hamfests have been printed, and are ready for
distribution
at the BARC hamfest, and all the others coming up. If you have plans to attend
a
hamfest, please remember to take some flyers along with you.
For this weekend, I am taking a box of flyers to Timonium on Saturday. I know
several members who will be there early Saturday morning, and flyers will be
distributed to both the indoor and outdoor vendors, and put on the registration
table. Its very easy to distribute flyers while walking around, and its always
interesting to hear the comments about our events. Most people have been to at
least one of our hamfests before, and they have generally enjoyed themselves.
If anyone plans on going to Timonium on Sunday, please consider grabbing some
flyers (they are stored in the club station) and handing them out to the new
tailgaters in attendance. Also make sure that the registration table has plenty
of our flyers available.
Most club members monitor 146.475 simplex while at a hamfest, which makes it
easy for other members to find out who's there. I will certainly be monitoring
'475 Saturday morning, so if you would like to help out with flyer
distribution, please give me a holler. A couple folks can cover an entire
hamfest fairly quickly, and our famous "Grabber Green" paper color really stands
out, so you can easily see if someone has a flyer already.
The best part about distributing flyers is that it gives you a reason to visit
with and say hello to all the vendors and tailgaters. On more than one occasion
I've found (and ended up buying) a goodie that I would have probably missed if I
wasn't handing out flyers.
