I want to add my support to this proposal. While I may be 1000 miles 
away I try to keep in touch with what is going on back home and since 
I'm not going to be able to say it at the meeting I might as well say it 
here:

In 1991 one evening I wandered down the street a few doors because I 
though I'd like to find out what ham radio was about. Steve wasn't 
expecting a visitor least of all a 15 year old  but he showed me around 
his shack and loaned me a shortwave receiver. His dad gave me a book on 
electronics which I (mostly) read. It took a while but after a bunch of 
Saturdays with the theory book and making me a bunch of code tapes I got 
my license. I have Steve to thank not only for getting me into ham radio 
but for showing me a lot of electronics and peeking my interest which 
eventually led me to getting my BSEE here in Fl. He gave me something to 
be interested in and something to strive for at a time when I needed 
some direction. Thanks Steve for putting up with an annoying teenager.
