Dear CCARC Contesters;

I am pleased to announce that team WX3B started the
new year off in style
with a massive ground force Sunday at my new home in
Taneytown, MD. The
weather held out - no rain, no wind and pleasant
temperatures.

During the hours of 11:30am to 6:00pm the following
equipment was installed:

Mast #1: AB/577 with Force 12 C3S up 55 feet

Mast #2: AB/577 with Force 12 EF-415 up 50 feet (4
elements 20 foot boom)

Mast #3: AB/577 Planned 20 meter antenna - Force 12
EF-420 up 50+ feet (4
elements 30 foot boom). Project to be completed soon.

There is a 75m dipole up 55 feet and a 40 meter dipole
will be installed
soon. Plans for a 160 inverted L are on the drawing
board. Looks like we
WILL be on for ARRL DX this year! There are already
rumors about 2 element
40 meter wire beams and something better for 75/80m.

There is an amazingly LONG list of people to thank for
this antenna party as
follows:

N3SB, NY3A, W3ARS, K1RH, N3ST, W3DF, N3VOP, W3ADC, and
W3ADX.

Nathan, W3ADX deserves a special acknowledgement
because he is our Carroll
County Club member of the year, he is 16 years old,
and he is completely
comfortable with all aspects of installing the AB/577
- making dipoles,
soldering, etc. Nathan has a real talent for
mechanical and electrical
projects and I look forward to having him (and his old
man W3ADC) joining
our team this year.

It is interesting to note that (almost) all helpers
are CCARC members - and also are active PVRC members.

Thank you for all your time & effort gentlemen - I am
looking forward to
paying you back over the years with a great place to
gather, play radio and
have fun.

It sure feels good being back on the air!

If you are a Carroll County club member and have an
interest in contesting - please consider joining me
for our Multi-Operator contests at WX3B.

73 & Happy New Year to all,

Jim WX3B
