CCARC Meeting Minutes August 2004

Start time: 19:30

RACES are still on hiatus.

There will be no presentation from Clint, W3ARS and Dave, K3LP until
further notice.

The next BOD meeting will be Wed, August 18, 2004

The tailgate fest will be held this weekend. There is also the MDC QSO
party this weekend. We need help for the Civil War Century bike ride in
Thurmont, MD. Date is September 11, 2004. Congratulations to Rob for a
great job on the generator.

Mail for the club was discussed. Not much this month.

The club now has a new stamp. There will be a Skywarn training at the
tailgate fest.

The Board report--there was no meeting in July due to lack of quorum.
But a number of issues were discussed.

Carroll County is NOT interested in taking control of the van. But
there are other options for support for the van.

Station committee report: nothing new. We have decided to look at
other antenna options for the club. The committee met to examine the
Wilson system antenna and to decide if it could be pressed into
service. There are numerous new parts and tubes that will be needed to
make it work. So it was decided that a new antenna may be a better
choice. The committee members will be looking into some options for the
club and will take into account the club needs as well as cost versus
features.

The Wine Festival Bike Tour will be held Saturday, September 18. There
will be a possible meeting on Saturday, September 4 to discuss support
for the ride. Set-up will begin at 8:00 AM.

There is still no work on RACES.

There was a motion by W3MDC to extend the deadline for the van funding
to the end of the calendar year.

The third weekend in October is the Jamboree on the Air (JOTA). The
event runs for 48 hours (Sat-Sun).

There was no old business to discuss.

Chuck, N3TOT proposes not more than $150 to buy 10 copies of "ham radio
for Dummies" to place in public libraries and schools. The library gets
them for $13.99 each. The normal price is $21.99. The motion was
seconded by John, W3JJH. It was passed unanimously by the club members
present at the meeting.

For those attending the tailgate fest, we will meet at 6:00 A M. The
Gaithersburg FAR fest will be held on Saturday and Sunday September 11th
and 12th at the Gaithersburg fairgrounds.

Submitted;
