Greenbelt, Md -- Sept. 9, 2004
AMATEUR RADIO HIGH-ALTITUDE BALLOONS
The long anticipated first SimSat engineering test
flight is targeted for launch on Wednesday,
September 22, in the Md-DC-VA area.
A follow up launch is scheduled for within a few
hours of this first one. These two experimental
exercises are designated SimSat-1A and SimSat-1B.
This is a good opportunity to show a local student
how to receive the balloon's simple telemetry beacon.
More information will be distributed sometime after
this weekend. But until then, ...
YOU ARE INVITED to a presentation I will give on the
Simulated Satellite (SimSat) educational balloon
project this weekend at the hamfest in Gaithersburg.
My talk at the 2-day hamfest is on Saturday,
September 11, at the Montgomery County Agricultural
Fairgrounds at 2:00 P.M. EDT.
FYI, Rick Hambly, W2GPS, of AMSAT, will talk on
Amateur Satellites on the same day in the same
place at 12 noon.
See the info below for hamfest details.
To subscribe to the SimSat e-mail list for flight
news, send a request to Patrick.L.Kilroy at nasa.gov
that includes your callsign or school affiliation,
if you have either.
Tracking the balloons ought to be fun for all.
Sincerely,
Pat N8PK
