[K3PZN-List] Hamfest Food Commentary Continued

I worked at the Club table all day selling tickets, answering patrons
questions, preparing prizes and talking to vendors etc. The only comment I
heard all day was when I walked out to the flea market. I don't believe the
fellow knew that I was connected to the hamfest. He said "this is a nice
little country hamfest. The area is beautiful, the people friendly and the
weather is great.

I watched the food service fairly contstantly to determine whether or not
this was a venture that the Club might want to take on in future years.

I have attended and been involved with every Masion Dixion Hamfest since its
inception and saw different food vendors offering various menus. I have seen
vendors make money and soom lose money. There HAVE BEEN complaints about
food, prices, service, food availably, etc. almost every year. For the most
part I though each vendor had its merits and most of the time prices were
inline with other events. What I have leaned is that you can't pease
everybody all the time. Yes I agree they had trouble multitasking. Food
made in a kitchen like that where it must be ready and therefore often must
stand for awile is not going to be your mothers cooking.

All in all we had less problems with this vendor (as far as I know); his
food and prices were commensurate with venues of this type. For the most
part, the lines were only 3 or 4 deep and they were served at a good rate.

Wish I could be as positive about the food as Jim....

Would rate the food vendor a 'D'.... for service... and a 'B' for
food-quality. The problem from my perspective was that they did'nt have
enough help and they certainly did'nt appear to have ever done this before.
The fellow behind the cash register would take an order then turn to the
poor guy doing the cooking and yell him the order...and then continue to
watch the guy cook it up or package it up....BEFORE going on the the next
person that wanted something! Two folks in line with me both got upset and
walked away before ordering. One had one of those prepackaged slices of pie
and he just hurled the pie on the counter and stormed out. At lunch I went
and tried the crabsoup (which I thought was pretty decent...abit spicy), the
same type of service continued and once again, someone walked away
frustrated with the customer service (or lack thereof).

This portion of the hamfest was the only apparent negative that I
experienced... thought it was great! Ran into two folks whom came on my
behalf, and they raved about the tailgating and size...

Dear CCARC Diners;

I had the food company's egg sandwich this morning -
and I rate it an A+. Served hot, fresh, with TWO
eggs, fresh sausage, for a couple dollars.

Also had their Crab soup - it was very good.

Would be curious to hear more opinions about lunch
(burgers, hot dogs, etc.).

The food vendor was pleased with his turnout at the
event.
