FW: [K3PZN-List] Van committee meeting- corrected

I agree. In fact my response to Al was, "Unfortunately, not."

If you can make it to the meeting Wednesday night, bring the letters, cards
and envelopes. Although the pretense for the meeting is a
'walkthrough/planning' meeting, we should get some folding, bending,
spindling, mutilating and envelope stuffing done too, while we have a
'captive' audience. We can discuss equipment layouts, planning, exterior
design, antennas, ancillary equipment and such while we are 'stuffing.'

I agree that we should have a 'show peice' vehicle, inside and out. I know
we can do this without any help from the county if necessary.

On a different note, can I impose on you to create some kind of a letter to
be sent out to the local heads of the American Red Cross, the Salvation
Army, Volunteer Carroll (for inclusion in local CERT deployments), Carroll
Hospital Center, MEMA, the Civil Air Patrol, and anyone else you can think
of in an effort to establish or re-establish our committment to work with
them during emergency situations? Although it wouldn't necessarily have to
be an official MOU, it should outline what we can offer them, what they
would expect from us and ask that we be included in any drills and/or crisis
simulations they might have so that we can practice working with them should
the need arise. One letter should be able to be used for several, if not
all of the organizations.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Keith
With no real funding yet, it seems unlikely that the van would be ready.
Apparently we are waiting for some reason to title, tag and insure ...Money?
When Steve pushed to talk to the county ... that sort of held things up. I
didn't think then and I don't think now that the county should be a factor.
We should write them off and proceed. If something come through, then fine.

Until enough money is available, there is not much that can be done save
some cleaning, bodywork to stop the rust and some substantial planning. I
believe that the MCC must not only be functional, but should also be a
showcase. That is what will get the support. That may mean redesigning the
layouts some so the equipment stands out. I know we said it would be neat to
put them in the cabinets, and I still think that can be done, but we need to
design the equipment inside the cabinet so it looks "build-in" or
"consolized". All of the similar vehicles I have looked at took that
approach. Lights, meters, switches, sirens, but no wires. You can bet that
the fireman's comm. van will be very professional and very expensive.

I'm not so sure we should allow it to be used for FD this year. It simply
isn't ready. If it is used, then only as a shelter .. no use of onboard
systems until all is thoroughly checked out, fixed etc.

When we meet with the county, I will be happy if we can get a accessible
parking pad from them.

73, Frank K3MTT

Will the van be ready for participation (or at least demonstration) at Field
Day?
