Dear CCARC Mid-Atlantic QSO Party Enthusiasts;

I am pleased to report that with a generous amount of
guidance from N5LBJ, K3ZE and AK3Z, the club station
is in top notch condition to enter the Mid-Atlantic
QSO Party this weekend.

There are a number of station improvements you may be
interested in hearing about - so here's the ones I've
noticed so far:

1. There is an excellent VHF station in place with a
high quality directional antenna. I believe we can
operate 2, 6 & 440...SSB.

2. We now have two complete HF operating positions -
an Icom 756 and Kenwood TS-850SAT. These are our
club's radios - there's also a Kenwood TS-440SAT that
belongs to the county - however we have use of it.

3. There is a complete set of 3 networked computers
(2 Windows NT, one 98) that have Writelog contest
logging software available. These are good windows
workstations with 17 inch montors. In addition, both
the 850 and 756 have radio control so that the
software knows your band/mode and you can
automatically "pounce" on packet spots.

4. Both the 756 and 850 have the digital modes
available - and software to control the modes is
loaded on each computer.

5. Two Heil Proset Plus Headsets are available for
voice communications - with (new) foot switches.
These new headsets are the industrial strength
versions and have a wide (high fidelity) and narrow
(HC-4 DX) Mic element located on the Mic.

6. Dunestar band pass filters are available so we can
run two (or three!) HF stations simultaneously without
a high degree of inter-station interference. You'll
see this in action at the MAQP this weekend.

There are rumors about pizza, homemade foot and LOTS
of good drinks at the club station this weekend.

If you haven't already told us, please let Al or me
know if you plan to attend this weekend's event.

73,

Jim WX3B
