Dear CCARC 75m SSB Field Day Operators;
I have KB3KHG and N3FNE "signed up" as 75m SSB
operators. I hope that both of you will be available
at the BEGINNING of field day: 2:00pm saturday.
The station needs guest operators from 2:00pm until
9:00pm at night Saturday - then I will be available to
operate if nobody else is.
Keith - can you take 2:00 - 5:00, and have Pete take
5:00 to 9:00 (or something roughly like that?) I
admit that the 5:00 to 9:00 shift is going to be MUCH
more fun so maybe you two can double team the effort?
Also - if there is interest, I need coverage for the
graveyard shift (3:00am - 6:00am), and for Sunday from
6:00am until the end of field day, 2:00pm. I should
be available most of that time if there are no takers.
I will be at the site at 2:00 to show everyone
interested how the station works. It will be located
in the second room in Rob's Tent (K1RH) - Rob is doing
20m SSB.
The station will consist of a Yaesu FT-1000MP Mark V,
a Yaesu DVS-II voice keyer to help you call CQ Field
day, and a Resonant dipole at about 50 feet on Rob's
tower. The frequency coverage allowed by the dipole
will be from 3.750 to about 3.850. Above that the SWR
will begin to climb (don't worry - you can't really
hurt anything...you just won't be heard very well)
Two Heil HC-4 headsets will be available in case you
want to play "Pilot" and "Co-Pilot" to listen into the
fun, help log, etc. Also available is a Yaesu MD-100
desk mic for those that don't like headsets and
foot-switches.
A notebook computer, using writelog will be configured
for automatic radio control and logging. With a
little bit of luck, we might have packet cluster
access - and will definitely be able to chit-chat with
K1RH on our network.
Ok - see you all tomorrow night!
73,
Jim Nitzberg WX3B
