Thanks to Clint W3ARS (yet again!) the generator was started up and ran
to get the dust off. It would not start for anyone else who tried. The
new sticker is on the tag and Doug N5LBJ will purchase and replace a new
set of tail lights. A 2" ball is in the storage box on the trailer
along with the new registration. The tires have been inflated to 32 psi
(Thanks Joe N3YIM for the use of the compressor). The oil looks good -
no moisture discernable and the level is good. Three quarts of oil are
in the storage box. The old gas has been drained out and the sediment
in the fuel filter cleaned out.
Now there are several of us who know how to start it up in theory (we
know how to operate the "nitzwitch") but the actual practice is another
thing. We'll have to see how we make out next Friday during setup.
K1RH, aka "Robbie the Repairman", is going to have the thing taken over
to his barn where he has graciously offered to pressure wash it and
repaint the rust spots on the engine.
I think that the club should consider buying a new trailer for it and a
better, heavier duty tarp for it. Once the thing is outfitted with an
electric starter, it should be run up once a month for routine maintenance.
Thanks to Clint, Rob, Teresa, Pete and Doug for coming out.
