[K3PZN-List] See message (AC!)

Scott,

If you are offering to help out with this task, we would certainly
appreciate the assistance. I don't know when Keith is planning another
group get together. However, if that time is not convenient I am usually
around the house and am sure we can pick time to get it done. I have done
some AC work, but I am not a professional AC repair person nor do I play one
on TV. I have a cheap set of R134 and R12 gauges, the UV dye, a UV light
and a 20# tank of R134a. I do not have the ester oil or the adapter to
charge a R12 system with R134. I agree with not having to replace any major
components if we can avoid it by just topping off with refrigerant once in a
while. If we do need to open the system, we will need access to a vacuum
pump. When I replace the evaporator and accumulator on my truck last year I
used a little hand operated vacuum pump to evacuate the system. I am sure I
did not get as much vacuum as I should have and it is certainly not a
procedure that I would like to repeat.

Thanks
Rob

It costs more to replace any bad parts then to add more R-134a. If it
works, then just add ester oil (PAG reacts to mineral oil) and charge
until the system measures about 45 degrees at the outlet. (about 80% of an
R-12 charge)

I have juice and gauges for R-134a and the experience of a few retrofits.
Any
time you open the system, it must be purged to a vacuum. R-134a is a smaller
molecule and will leak through the O-rings and seals a lot quicker then
R-12.

All systems leak. Some more then others. It's a fact of life.

If you have any questions or need it done, let me know.
