[K3PZN-List] Generator Update

Looks to me like only regular maintenance is needed outside of the head
gasket. I don't see anything about valves. It don't have enough hours on it
for valve ware. It needs valves etc. I will gladly buy the generator from
the club at scrap prices with a few dollars thrown in and "save" us all the
maintenance costs.

I assume the head gasket is mentioned because of oil leakage. I didn't look
closely at it over FD but if there is oil leakage we need to be sure it
isn't from valve covers which has a tendency to run down and accumulate
around the engine at the head gasket level and even soak in a little
depending on the gasket type. Older gaskets (pre neoprene) tended to become
oil soaked after a period of time. I would not recommend removing the head
unless really necessary.

We might check the head bolts and retighten if necessary as some of the
thicker gaskets tended to compress over time.

Let me know when you plan to do some work and I wil try to attend.

Hi Rob,
Just a thought. Since we have two generators and
one is new, still in WWII packaging. If #1 needs
valves, carb work, painting etc--would it be easier
get the new one #2 cleaned and use that instead of
repairing #1.
