[K3PZN-List] Radio Van Project discussion at Monday Night -- please attend

Greetings Everyone;

The Board will be making a motion at Monday night's club meeting for funds 
to repair the van that was donated to the club last month. With this 
motion, the board is kicking off a significant long-term project to turn 
the van into a mobile ham radio station. Its primary mission is to improve 
our emergency communications capability.

The project has a number of benefits beyond this however. It'll certainly 
be handy for Field Day, Public Service events, as a "rover" station for 
contests, and as a means to promote the CCARC and our hobby in general. 
Equipping the van with radios, antennas, and other support items will be a 
very fun project by itself!

The Board has held several meetings to discuss the project scope, details, 
and the amount of funding required to get this van on the road. Now we are 
ready to bring this project to the club to gauge the club's interest, and 
to obtain project funding approval. The Board has also put together plans 
for obtaining other sources of funding and support for this project, and is 
ready to begin that process as well.

Please try to attend Monday night's meeting, so that we can present our 
plans. (Because of its dollar value, the motion for funding will have to be 
tabled, per our by-laws.) This radio van project will require significant 
expenditures of both time and money to develop, as well as maintain. So we 
will also be looking for several enthusiastic members who would like to be 
on a Radio Van Committee, which will be formed after the funding is secured.
