Joe
I replaced my starter last year with a rebuilt one for my 1986 Chevy truck.
It only cost me $25 at a store in Randalllsown (I'll have to check the name
... Its one of those relatively new places. I bought other stuff there at
prices way cheaper than elsewhere (20-40%). A starter from a junk yard would
probably cost more. Do we need a flywheel? Even so, I would suggest a
rebuilt starter to match the flywheel. If it sping my v8 truck at 0 degrees
ok, its gonna start the generator without a problem. Flywheels will be
available from the junkyard ... we need to match the starter to whatever we
get. We should talk to out local mechanics. They may have blown engines and
will give us the parts. We oughta check with the guy thats doing the van.
For $2,000 in parts and labor I think he would be amenable to giving us
some parts from an old engine. Between all the CLub members, all bet someone
has and old car or an old engine sitting around also.

HI EVERYONE;

I HAVE JUST RETURNED FROM MEETING WITH DAVID DARDEN, TEACHER AT THE
VO-TECH, WE WENT TO THE FTC AND LOOKED AT THE GENERATOR, HE SAYS HE HAS
AN IDEA ALREADY HOW TO DO THIS.

HE CAN NOT DO IT FOR A FEW WEEKS DUE TO SOME CONSTRUCTION IN HIS AREA
AT THE VO-TECH, I WILL KEEP IN TOUCH WITH HIM AND WHEN HE IS READY WE
WILL HAVE TO GET THE GENERATOR TO THE SCHOOL.

WE NEED TO PURCHASE A STARTER, IT MUST BE A LEFT TURNING STARTER TO
TURN THE GENERATOR TO THE RIGHT, ANY IDEAS, HOW ABOUT A CAR RECYLE CENTER??

   73'S

JOE
