Board Meeting Notes, July 21, 2004
The July Board meeting was held at the FTC on Wednesday 21 July, at 7:30
PM. In attendance were Chuck N3TOT, Jerry N3GQK, Doug N5LBJ, and Steve
N3SB. We were not able to discuss business since the meeting did not have a
quorum. So the notes below are not the words of the board, but rather a
summary of the discussions of four board members.
Chuck N3TOT is considering making a motion to purchase several copies of
"Ham Radio for Dummies," to be placed in local schools. He is reviewing
several purchasing options. If he's ready to make the motion at the next
club meeting, we'll be the first to know.
Bill N3WM has placed the $1000 self-insurance funds into a CD. We talked
about the approach for handling "claims" against the fund. This will be
discussed further at the next board meeting.
We also talked about how committees can get their reports to the
membership, given that club meeting time is (hopefully) being used more and
more for presentations. Committees should make use of the club's reflector,
as well as the newsletter, to provide detailed reports of their activities
wherever possible.
We spent some time considering the slate of candidates likely to run for
office next year. We want to make sure the club has an enthusiastic and
capable board to serve the club next year. Even though it's over 8 months
away, it's not too early to give some thought to playing a more prominent
role in your club.
Finally, the group discussed plans for making changes to the club's bylaws.
We're not expecting major changes. Right now we're just looking at the
kinds of changes we'd like to make. The actual writing will begin in the
next month or so.
