CCARC MEMBERS,
Dave Birdsley of B & B Embroidery phoned to tell me that he now has
available a new line of sweatshirts. The item is a navy blue heavy weight
cotton pullover with a zip up placard, denim collar, denim elbow patches,
and a 9" deep radio pocket on the right chest. You may have seen members of
the various county fire departments wearing this style of sweatshirt called
a "firefighter's job shirt". These things are bulletproof and toasty warm!
Dave is sending me a sample with the CCARC logo on the left chest and
"EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS" embroidered on the back (coincidently, see the
new poll on the ARRL website regarding the use of this generic term).
ARES/RACES/CARET/SKYWARN et al patches could then be sewn on the sleeves. I
doubt that the sample will arrive in time for Monday night's meeting. If it
does, however, I will bring it with me. Otherwise, I will try to get it to
the next BOD meeting to see what their opinion is. The club may want to
consider adopting this type of sweatshirt and logo as the club standard for
easy recognition when providing communications during county emergencies or
events.
Dave has not given me a definite price on the shirt with logo and embroidery
on the back, but indicated that with the cost of the seatshirts to him plus
his embroidery work would be about $60.00. I don't know as yet whether
there will be a volume club discount. That would probably depend on how
many that the club ordered that are exactly the same.
Those of you who have not previously purchases club logo clothing from B & B
have no doubt seen those who have wearing the stuff and the high quality of
Dave Birdsley's products.
I would like to get a "straw poll" of those who are interested by the end of
October. If there is enough response, we could generate another club order
(20 combined items for the 20% club discount) and have the stuff delivered
by the holidays.
