Guardian -- Heathrow air traffic controllers
are searching for a radio ham in the Windsor
area who could unwittingly be triggering the
crash warning system on planes approaching
the airport. Pilots landing at the airport
this week complained that a few miles from
the end of the runway their Traffic Alert
and Collision Avoidance System went off
squawking "traffic, traffic, traffic"
across the cockpit. The system
automatically alerts pilots to nearby
aircraft, allowing evasive action. "It's
creating quite a furore. They've been
rushing around trying to find out why."
