CARROLL COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB BOARD Minutes

 The CCARC Board of Directors met on July the 23d at the Fire Training
Center, President Beckman called the meeting to order at 1948 local time.

  The following members were present, Steve N3SG, Doug N5LBJ, Keith
KB3HHK, Bryant AA3XZ, John AK3Z and Joe N3YIM.

  The Training and Education Committee requested emergency funding for
instruction materials in order to meet the start date of Jul 27. Here
is a brief summary of their request; the original request is attached to
the official copy of the minutes;

  Proposal

   1. Al Bisasky, K3ZE as a Volunteer Instructor registered with the
      ARRL can buy instruction materials at a discount rate of 25%. For
      Now Your Talking at the discount is $14.96

   2. Al will order the (10) copies and will be reimbursed $149.60.

   3. Students will purchase NYT for the discount price of $14.96.

   4. Students under 18 who pass the Tech exam and the VE session
      following the course will be reimbursed for the manual.

   5. The board may also consider reimbursing the course instructors for
      their copies and the

Technician Q&A Manual and the Instructors Manual, as these are reusable,
cost $20.96

   After discussion it was decided that Steve N3SB will contact AL K3ZE,
if he needs to be reimbursed immediately several members of the Board
will assist to do that, if he can wait he will be paid when we have a
budget.

  The remote site was once again the center of discussion, the problem
seems to be coordination with the county, and we need access to the
Sykesville and Westminster sites to complete the project. The board
recommends that the Repeater committee become more active and complete
the installation before bad weather sets in.

  The station committee still has to have the tower plate fabricated;
John AK3Z has received the equipment he ordered to upgrade the station.
There will be another Civil War Century Bike Ride on September 13th and
he will need volunteers to cover the event, there will be a planning
meeting in the near future to finalize the event.

  Joe N3YIM received a call for the FAR Hamfest coordinator for
volunteers; he has asked if the CCARC would be willing to support the
event by selling tailgaters tickets from 6AM until 2PM on Saturday the
6th. Some members of the board will support that but seem to think 8
hours is a little long, volunteers from the club will be solicited.

  Keith KB3HHK has acquired a PA system for the Tailgate Fest and
Hamfest from his employer at a reduced rate for the club.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 2102.

Submitted;
