If youre after an inexpensive option you can get plain (no lettering)
vests for $4.99 each from the usual public safety equipment suppliers.
They arn't as good as the more expensive ones but they get the job done
- we use them for the Explorers here. From what I've seen of the ARRL
ones this is what they use just with the added lettering.
I went out and purchased a blue (I'd go with amber or red if your not a
LEO) strobe $22 from Galls that attaches to my issue traffic vest and it
seems to help out. I worked a DUI detail last night 2000-0400 and it
stayed on the whole time. We had 8 DUI's 4 other arrests and over 100
citations, the bigest was a dealer that tried to stuff the dope under
the seat as he pulled in, got $800 in cash as well as a bunch of
individualy wrapped cocaine, some X, and a bag of pot, and a new car
(forfeiture since he was using it to transport the drugs).
