Dear Fellow Members,

I want to thank all of you for another ham radio first for me. In my 22
years as a ham, Sunday was the first time that I have ever "worked" a
hamfest. You made it all very enjoyable for me. I'm beginning to wonder
what I did for fun before joining CCARC. I certainly missed out on some
great times, it seems. But it's events like the hamfest and Field Day with
yuz guys that has put a real spark back in my amateur radio activities. It
is truly an honor to be able to work side-by-side with some of the greatest
"grunts" that I have ever met. A "grunt" is a term of high praise and
respect bestowed upon those people that, no matter how difficult the task
may be or how hard the conditions, no matter what needs to be done, they
willingly "ruck up, move out, and get it done" (Bill, N3WM and Phil, N5LBJ,
or any other Viet Nam vet can explain it all to you).

The reason that the hamfest was such a success boils down to one factor:
teamwork. But teamwork is dependent upon good leadership. That role was
played perfectly by Steve, N3SB. We all should be damned glad to have him
as our Beloved Prez and Club Spin Doctor. He can truly bend steel with his
bare hands, change the course of mighty rivers, leap tall buildings in a
single bound, and has the chutzpah to tell a trouble making vendor to take
his issues elsewhere. And all this time, I thought that he was just a
mild-mannered ham in a great metropolitan radio club.

So, thanks again, CCARC! Especially to The Big Kahoona, Bubba One, Bubba
Two, Hubcap, Sugar Bear, Want Money, and Joe Bob.

73,

Al, K3ZE
