The Foundation for Amateur Radio (FAR) is looking for volunteers to help
with planning/organizing/making happen/(and who knows what else) the
FAR/CARA Fall-Fest for Sept 2003.
Fall-Fest 2002 was the first held jointly with CARA and was a two day event.
CCARC is a member club of FAR and it would be great if some of our members
could volunteer some time as requested below.
Chances are that, by volunteering, you would gain experience that would be
helpful to our own Mason Dixon Hamfest in October 2003. Please give it a
try. See below for information and point of contact. Also, feel free to
contact me.
Thanks es 73,
Tony KF3AK (CCARC FAR representative)

Can you please help?
Even though the FAR/CARA Fall-Fest was only a few weeks ago, your
Fall-Fest 2003 planning committee has been hard at work. Believe it or
not, a two-day event like Fall-Fest requires attention all year long.
Right now, we are planning publicity for the year, and contacting major
vendors to seek their participation. Program planning is underway, as
are plans for the section convention. Soon, we expect to start
attending other hamfests, handing out flyers and making further vendor
contact.
So, why am I telling you all this? We really need some volunteers!
If each of the FAR clubs can send just a few volunteers, the jobs can
get done in record time. We can use as much, or as little, of your time
as you are willing to give. Most of the chores are actually quite easy,
and you might even have a little fun. If your time is limited, just
tell us how much you are willing to give. You can specify limitations
on the amount of time per month, or on the type of jobs.
We are also looking for one very special volunteer. This person will be
our Volunteer Team Coordinator. It will be this person's job to
organize our volunteers. Last year's coordinator has volunteered to be
a mentor, and has some excellent ideas on how to do the job. We are not
asking that you do the entire job by yourself. Rather, we need someone
to manage the effort, and coordinate the efforts of other recruiters.
If the team is properly formed, no one should have to work too hard or
too long.
Our website, www.fall-fest.com, will soon have a sign-up sheet for
volunteers. You will be able to specify the amount of your commitment,
and what you are willing to do. In the meantime, please contact me
personally at kb3wk@ arrl.net. I will be happy to answer you right
away.
Thanks in advance,
John King, KB3WK
Fall-Fest Chairman
