Geez, 
Give the man a FREE radio, and he complains..LOL.
Ok Al, I've had a VX5 for several years, My wife bought it for me as a
coming home present after I spent 2 weeks in Aberdeen. I got the radio,
car charger, fast charger extra battery, and VOX headset for just under
500$. 
It does warm up a bit on high power, most on 440, some on 2m, and barely
noticeable on 6.

There are internal adjustments for the deviation, yours is the second
I've heard of that was a little hot. I know about 10 or 12 VX5 owners....
I have never had any problems with any of my yaesu's.
I've noticed that the manuals are somewhat crude in the translation, but
usually, once you figure out the patterns, all the programming makes
sense..

I have had the SMA nut coime loose on mine, otherwise, it's been
perfectly dependable.
