[K3PZN-List] EDITORIAL: THE GREAT GAMBER DEBATE

Thanks, Clint, for answering my query. Yours was the perfect answer...you
did all the things that anyone could expect (and much more). I thank you
for your outstanding efforts and apologize if my query came across as
accusatory (which it was not intended to be). It is now perfectly clear to
me that Gamber has taken the position of "Show me the money". Perhaps it
was clear all along. My apologies for not seeing it right away.

As far as a response to Gamber VFD is concerned, I support a "diplomatic"
approach rather than a confrontational one as has been suggested by some. I
suggest that we simply send a formal letter over the signature of a club
officer stating Thanks for past years and Regrets for this year, explaining
our position regarding the fee now expected. I don't think that we should
"burn our bridges" and antagonize them (and possibly other organizations).
Perhaps they will see the error of their ways and invite us back next year
under the "old rates". In any event, we are companion organizations and
should seek to resolve our differences, not make them bigger.

In the meantime, it appears that some interesting alternative sites are
emerging. Let's go forth and have fun!

Thanks again, Clint. And good luck with this year's event. I wish that I
could be a part of it, but thanks to the Saturday/Sunday job maybe next
year...

73, Tony KF3AK
