[K3PZN-List] Field Day

Hi Guys,
I guess it is time for the "new guy" to put in his two cents.
Always wanted to call myself a "new guy".

Well. let's look at this from the "devil's advocate's" point of view.
Let's send all the tickets back to the volunteer fire companies with the
letter.
This is not a bad idea, get's the point across. Also puts the local
volunteer fire departments on "let's watch out for these guys mode". Now,
something happens in the community and an emergency communications location
is needed, besides the EOC. Can you see the open arms of the volunteer fire
compainies at this point?
The local volunteer fire companies are going through what most of the
"non-profit" groups are going through, money shortage. The club is a
non-profit and surely could use more income. Well, imagine that with a
building, several pieces of equipment, fire protection suits, etc.
Think about it. What is $200 among a group of 50? I used to do Field Day
where we all pitched together and settled the expenses. Don't get me wrong,
I'm as cheap as the next guy. Used to cost us between $15 and $25 a piece
to have an enjoyable Field Day.
By the way, I am a CCARC member, but I do not live in Carroll County.

<Soap box off>
