FD Committee

I again scouted Freedom Park and concluded it could be the best FD
site ever.

At the end of the park, effectively separated from the ball fields
is a large privation and just past that is a very large area that
has been cleared and has a stone base. No problem in accessing even
in wet weather. All around that area (the generator and cars could
be parked here), are grassy fields of varying size with trees behind
which look like excellent supports for a long wire or two.

I noticed what appeared to be some scouts setting up a couple of
tents in the area. Just on the other side of the trees near the
entrance is a very large hockey/soccer field. Looked like some
church may have been setting up an outdoor event way down beyond the
end of the field. There are spot a pots all throughout the park (and
plenty of trees and forest area).

I wish I had my camera with me. Maybe tomorrow if I get a chance I
will take some picas and put them on the reflector.

I called the Freedom Rec. Council (410-549-6296) to inquire as to
the parks availability for a FD exercise and left my name and
telephone number. I also have their Email address.

The part is easily accessible, probably free, away from developments
but just off Rt 32 in Sykesville. Tons of flat land, good roads and
near fast food places (2 miles from Eldersburg) and IN CARROLL
COUNTY. I think our remote repeater site can be seen from this location.

I will let you know what I find out. Anyone interested in this
location, let me know.
