Dear CCARC Field Day Partipants;
Believe it or not - this is the FIRST field day I've
participated in from start to finish, and it was
AWESOME! I really enjoyed every minute of it. Thank
you to all the club members and guests (i.e. Frederick
club - Tower) for helping me have a great time while
putting forth a good effort.
I'd particularly like to extend two major complements
for an outstanding job:
1. Clint - W3ARS. What a job as Field Day President.
Three cheers for you, old man! You run a top notch
show. And providing your beam at the last minute
really helped give me that 1 - 2 S-unit advantage over
my dipole. Someday, I'll find all those little
washers and screws for your A4...
Thanks for the generator repair/duty as well. Next
year, the only question will be...how many MORE
transmitters will we run?
2. Keith - KB3HHK. As some of you might remember - I
also volunteered for "food" duty - but I never did one
single thing related to cooking during the entire
weekend. I thought the meals were outstanding, the
service was wonderful, and I'm sure the entire crew
will join me in applauding Keith for a job well done.
You did such a great job, Keith, that we want you back
again next year.
Of course there are many, many people, some in the
spotlight, and some behind the scenes that make it
possible for such a great event to continue, and I
appreciate those of you that helped me pack, unpack
and operate my 20 meter SSB station this year.
For those interested, 20 SSB finished up with the
following statistics:
1. 539 Unique (Non-Duplicate) QSOs
2. 6 DX Stations
3. 75 Sections
We also had the pleasure of having a reporter from the
Carroll County times sit down and "run" stations for
several minutes.
The Field Day new operator of the year for 20 SSB goes
to a very special 10 year old YL named Jamie. Within
minutes, she was running stations like a champ. Keep
up the good work, Jamie - you can contest at my
station any time!
I hope that most of you had half as much fun as I did
at field day...I can hardly wait for next year's
event.
73,
Jim Nitzberg WX3B
